Women’s Cat 3 Road

Hometown: Rural Ridge, PA.

Why I ride and race: The two stickers that hang over my computer monitor at work pretty much summarize my thoughts…Bike Pittsburgh’s “BURN FAT NOT OIL,” and Adventure Cycling Association’s “Ride to Live, Live to Ride.”

Racing: Since 2005, I’ve had a season pass to the weekly Allegheny Cycling Association (ACA) race series that runs from mid-April through mid-September. So, I’ve raced almost every Tuesday night during the last five summers. For the past two years, I’ve officiated the ACA Wednesday night criterium series and the Mingo spring road races. I was the VP of the ACA in 2008 and 2009 and will be a board member in 2010.

Other things: When I’m not doing something bike-related in the spring, summer or fall, I’m usually tending my plants and garden, or cooking and eating vegetables that I’ve grown or gotten from my CSA weekly farm subscription. In the winter, I’m either cross country/back country skiing (White Grass, near Davis, WV is my favorite spot within a day’s drive) or wishing for snow. I also love to bake and feed people (hence bittersweet truffle, brownie & pistachio orange milk chocolate cookie primes…and ACA picnic cupcakes).

Favorite beer: I prefer dark beer. I recently tried a Lancaster Milk Stout that was quite good.
